} i need to stop complaining about this, but...

currently in a nostalgic mood.

blog-reading is no longer such a satisfying distraction, now that most people transfer their feelings to facebook and/or twitter, or turn them into the redux version that is tumblr. years and years ago the cool thing was to write about things that happen everyday, in a home-made blog layout preferably with glittery objects and/or your own cursor (can that even be done anymore??) ... sometimes just song lyrics.

eventually the blogosphere grew up and semi-philosophical thoughts became popular... along with a lot of angst. you know, the 'deep' stuff. posts became semi-poetic and your life a dramatisation. (with these i never quite know if the writer is writing accurately or taking artistic licence for dramatic effect.)

youtube came along and it became a lot easier to communicate feelings through songs. song lyrics no longer sound so cryptic with the music to go along with them.

now, it's the age of tumblrs, 9gags, pictures and pictures (captioned/non-captioned) from goodness knows where. it's also the age of the semi-professional blog, where it's no longer cool not to spell out everything and not capitalising words that should be capitalised. Thanks to the semi-pro blog, it's possible to become famous as a blogger. Blogs also become a source for thought, for news and other general intelligentsia.

there isn't much room for feelings. i guess there isn't much point anymore to write 1 or 2 paragraphs about them when either (a) you have belaboured the point on your 2-line facebook status, or (b) someone else has already made a tumblr picture that perfectly encapsulates what you're feeling. but people don't write anymore, not in a way that is their original thoughts. it's not enough for a blog to say who we are and how we think, it has to be smart and funny.

im sure i've said all this before and i am definitely belabouring the point... but i dont think it's a bad idea to go back to the time when we were a little bit more sensitive, introspective, more honest & vulnerable.
