} Quarter finals, Germany vs Argentina

pre-match interview with Argentinian defender:

"Q: That being the case, do you think the 1-0 friendly victory on German soil three months ago was an important statement of intent?

A: We just did what we needed to do. We controlled possession and the play. Germany are a team that dont like not having the ball so thats what we need to aim for."

Uh..... yeah.

controlling possession and play was exactly NOT what Argentina was doing last night. while i have always disliked Tevez for being an utterly un-graceful raging bull on the pitch, an unruly steamroller was probably exactly what Argentina needed to win the match and he failed to bring it! have to admit that the german defence were quite tight but even when argentina had their chances, they hesitated instead of charging down the penalty area like a team who is down 2-0 is supposed to do.

though im still sore at england's defeat and probably still can't fully support germany, i must say they were definitely the better team last night. argentina didn't exactly play badly, but they failed to impress. they might have won against a lesser team but uh, dude. have you seen your opponents play?? they started off in such a sleepy pace that they let in a goal in the 3rd minute!

very sad day for Maradona, but utterly deserved for the rest of the team.

i thought the star of the night was Schweinsteiger (my favourite on the german team since 2006), his run up to the 2nd (or was it 3rd) goal was fantaaaastic. Tevez and Messi, on the other hand, join the ranks of ronaldo and rooney in their uh complete and utter failure last night. oops.

the Brazil-Netherlands match is kinda too far away in my memory now to really talk about details... but it was such a hilarious match. the referee, being the star comedian. HAHA (i mean that in the fondest and non-insultory way.) having said that it's really sad that Brazil is out of the running, because i really hated the way the Dutch played what with all their fouling and complete incompetence to score with 3 attackers against 1 defender (DUDEEE SERIOUSLYYYY). but i like the sneijder guy, he is so annoying and yet so funny hahahaha.

Uruguay also get my boos for knocking out Ghana, literally, with their handball. BOOOOOOO

lets hope we get more JUSTICE in these coming matches. *lawstudentface*
