after a good number of weeks of sleeping relatively early (i.e. around 12mn / 1am) today i don't feel like sleeping, so i guess it's a good time to blog. there have also been many things to think about and I guess it's best to let out some of them and er, free up the space in the hard drive. starting with the most recent.

the sex-for-grades case came up again during dinner after the long hiatus. apparently there were some shocking developments revealed today, including a confession (allegedly involuntary) and names of 4 other students. after dinner we ran into someone else, who had a copy of Wanbao in his arm, and we ended up looking at the report by the traffic junction... there was one name we recognised (which disturbed me quite a bit). and names of male students. cue scandal & drama. kind of wish the truth could come out sooner and save any innocent parties unnecessary pain. even for guilty parties - i don't know if the undercurrents of rumour and gossip are not as painful as the actual conviction.

couldn't stop thinking about it on the bus ride home.. i still can't help thinking this entire thing is just unfortunate. people are weak and make stupid mistakes. granted, some mistakes are stupider than others... but given that there was little harm done (the girl got a B in one module, and this probably didn't affect her class of honours at the end) i can't help but wonder if the whistle-blowing was necessary. if other students were also involved and the point was to deter the professor, then it would seem the students' identities should have been protected...

unless there is really proof of great harm done (the B is not convincing) it just feels like people are being unnecessarily victimised.

next on the agenda is the eternal question of what the hell i am doing?????

i feel like i have a lot of good intentions, but that's about all i have... and according to the saying, i'm just heading for hell.

have run out of blogging steam. tbc, maybe.
