} salad days

we drove along Chancery Lane, but this Chancery Lane is very different from another Chancery Lane i knew and loved. i don't know how many times i walked through that cobbled street... first, alighting at the Royal Courts of Justice, looking at people suited up with papers flapping ("that could have been me in an alternate world"). looking out for the right lane to turn into. a row of posh shops and restaurants first. then a bit further along, the Maughn (sp?) where i nerdily but so willingly spent so many days. i think the Law Society was across the street. the Knights Templar, probably my favourite pub with its cozy seats and large screen for football. there is a little garden, an entrance into an Inn? couple of tie/suit shops, what was that popular one arghh. LexisNexis (us geeky law students took pictures of it). a little secret-but-not lane with little individual seats (presumably for office workers who need a break?). the new Chilango's... the sandwich deli that i frequented but really cannot remember the name of, now. there was a salad shop at the end of the lane - when i saw the green from a distance i knew that my trek was almost over and on cold days this was something to be very thankful for.

the Chancery Lane here has trees and private houses.

another thing that i remember: there was ALWAYS some construction work going on at that other chancery lane, and i was always crossing back on forth because they seem to like doing construction work on at least two random points of the street at the same time.

trying to write an exam now but experiencing mind blocks. but at least im not meeting sze hui anymore (she also has an assignment! phew) so i'm pretty sure i'll get to sleep at least a little bit!!!

it's so strange but i feel a twinge of jealousy when i see/hear that someone has had a good day, or a happy day. and then i realise that happy days, and happiness in general, are no exclusive commodity--and inexhaustible. so i am also free to declare when i've had a happy day. i just perhaps don't do it enough.
