} pizza and pop art

met up with schzns and juns yesterday, since juns in flying off to hong kong next week. we didnt do much, just ate pizza (yesterday was food overload day.. but domino's is quite awesome) and messed around with her various musical instruments as usual hahaha. i kinda wish we all lived nearer to each other and then maybe we could randomly do this every once in a while instead of once in, maybe, 6 months. hahaha.

juns if you are reading this i am REALLY going to miss you ok. and not because of your cool keyboard/guitars/etc etc. well partly cos of the cool keyboard. lol. but really cos it's going to mean one less person to laugh with for these few months.. its going to be a bit lonely whenever i see something that i know will amuse people like us ONLY. hahaha.

anyway i've been spending a lot of time with Mas, my good friend from primary school. and it is AWESOME because previously we'd only meet once in a blue moon and then she went off to australia and though i wish things had worked out for her there, i somewhat guiltily feel blessed to have her here.

we went to eat briyani (portion overload.. really, but quite nice) and then went to check out the art gallery that i wanted to see. it exceeded expectations for something uninspiredly called the 'Pop and Contemporary Art Gallery' and the owner's husband was really friendly! (the owner wasn't there.) and it was amazing to see works by Warhol and Marc Chagall in the flesh, IN THE FLESHH, and in such good condition that it's hard to believe they're genuine. (but they are, i'm pretty sure. the guy looks honest.) talked to him a bit about Yayoi Kusama, the japanese artist they're currently featuring, and about how they procured their art. it sounds like such an INCREDIBLY FUN process, going to different countries and looking out for art sales and auctions, inspecting the pieces etc etc.

their gallery space is not the best though. i like their idea of putting their permanent pieces in the front of their shop, and the current featured collection in its own 'sanctuary' in the back, but it was kind of too closed off and actually hard to see if you weren't looking. haha. and the 'sanctuary' was a little small and claustrophobic, though i guess they had to make do with their space. practically all the galleries i've seen use clean white walls, for good reason i guess. this one threw a bit of colour into the mix though, i think one wall was coloured and there were some paintings resting on the floor and so against different backgrounds. it was quite an interesting homey effect.

/end observation

unfortunately there isn't much to be excited about the rest of this week. :/ but i'll take it one day at a time.
