} let's talk about the week

on days when i have to go to work i have this very strong desire to stay home. like today. somehow i need to surround myself with this feeling of home-ness, like sitting on the floor in front of the tv (switched off, because tv shows make time go faster), doing homework or something. but on days when i have nothing to do i just feel like going out. :| only on some lucky occasions, im going out when i feel like going out, or staying in when i feel like staying in. today is not one of those lucky days. :( AND it looks like its going to rain...very heavily...

oh well but luckily i do have 1 or 2 hours now...

this week has been...sleepy. no matter what im doing or where i am, i've just been generally Sleepy. on monday it was worst because i fell asleep during my morning lecture, and then i fell asleep during my afternoon lecture, and then i fell asleep before my evening tutorial. i know, Wow.

this week has also been interesting tho in a kindof Intellectual (hahaa) way; on thursday i attended the Criminal Law & Pro Bono seminar - actually i was obliged to, since im part of the seminar team in the pro bono cca (although i hardly did anything) haha. but im glad i had to go cos it was a good seminar. the speakers were engaging and personality-wise they were all interesting, likable, respectable people. one of them was a prosecutor-turned-defence-lawyer who had a laugh exactly like Jerry Espensen (boston legal). only downside was, subhas anandan couldn't come in the end although his nephew did. he seems like a good person, but he had a certain Denny Crane-ish (also boston legal haha) swagger/confidence which gets irritating cos i think you need some age and experience before you can pull off that kind of thing. haha. but to be fair, he obviously is a good lawyer and a good person.

andd today, i attended the Femin Ijtihad seminar. in pro bono group we all had to choose a project to join, and i joined Femin Ijtihad, which is a research group to help women in Afghanistan. this week is International Women's Week (i bet you didnt know that) so today Nadia (the proj coordinator in sg) decided to have a seminar to increase publicity of the project and all. the turn-out turned out to be worse than pathetic (less than 10 instead of more than 20) but it became a cosy dialogue session which i kinda enjoyed.. we had a guest speaker from MUIS who talked a bit about the development and the state of islam around the world. can definitely say i learnt a lot from it.

and. this has nothing to do with my Intellectual week but on the bus yesterday i met a man from nigeria who just randomly started talking to me. at first i thought 'oh God oh God he's going to try and make me help him smuggle pot' and then he asked 'are you Christian?' and i thought '...oh.' cos you see, this experience (besides showing how racist i must be) just CEMENTED my belief that i must have a sign on my forehead screaming at missionaries: "COME AND TALK TO ME BECAUSE I AM UNHOLY AND IN NEED OF REDEMPTION". seriously. but to give him credit, he is at least better than that other guy who kept trying to persuade me to go for a 'healing session'. at least Peter from Nigeria actually tried to make real conversation and even told me he would invite me to Nigeria sometime. (although to be honest at that point i went back to thinking that ok maybe he really is a drug smuggler.) (and i guess i really am prejudiced. :/)

IDOL is depressing this week though cos von smith didnt make it. :( i so loved his performance on wednesday (and his audition rendition of over the rainbow is priceless) though to be fair, yes his wildcard performance did suck. aiyah. :( but at least jorge, who i loved since hollywood week though his wednesday perf was so-so, made it! he is so cute haha. and ANOOP made it from wildcard!! he is so so lovable heh. the rest of the top 12 line-up is...all right. from the girls i love lil rounds (surprisingly, i usually find the black-girl-with-a-big-voice boring) and megan joy (her dancing was errrrhh but kind of kooky) (and she did KT tunstall!). danny - i like his voice, but theres something about him that screams MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER that stops me from really liking him. :| SCOTT IS OVERRATED. i dont think he's that good at all. he has a good voice definitely, and he is passionate, but his performance is a yawn. im sorry to be evil, but if he wasn't blind he wouldn't be in the top 12 at all. but oh well, lets see what happens.

ok thats enough of my blabbering for the day aha.
