} journey's end

sometimes when its close to a major exam, like now, i feel like im going off to a long long journey.

first there is the preparation. at first im too lazy to start, and then, slowly, i get some momentum going.

and then, theres the well wishes. people come and go... some come by, say a few words, encourage me to keep going. some write notes and letters. some stay for a while, just for company. after all, we're all in this together.

but ultimately, the journey is made alone. in the end, i only have my own knowledge and instincts and wits to depend on. and since this is the last big 'journey' i have to make, there is a particular note of finality to it.

as it draws closer, there is one particular quote that sticks out in my mind:

...
S.-M ... - when the attack comes, of course, we beat 'em off - but what if they keep on attacking?
Stanhope Then we keep on beating them off.
...
S.-M (diffidently) Yes, sir, but what 'appens when the Boche 'as all got round the back of us?
Stanhope Then we advance and win the war.
S.-M (pretending to make a note) Win the war. Very good, sir.

haha. oh stanhope. you make me =).

anyway, i shouldnt blog anymore from now on... all the best to everyone taking exams..! although if you are you probably shouldnt be reading this.
