} trip to esplanade

studying at the esplanade library is nice. (as gloria said, haha) =) its not very crowded, and there's cds to listen to for free! and i ate my lunch on the roof terrace, which was nice.. not that it had a magnificent view or anything (this is singapore, after all) but it was just nice and breezy up there.

after studying for some time i looked at the music scores there, which was my main reason for coming to the esplanade lib in the first place. but to my dismay, after picking out quite a lot of score books i wanted to borrow, i found out that scores & other av materials are only borrowable for PREMIUM members.

..wth?? i think its DESPICABLE for a library to extort money like that! i mean, dont they earn enough from people like me, who seem to be cursed to return all books late no matter what (even after i renew)?? so now i have to get a cashcard so i can photocopy the scores that i want. =(

but still, the esplanade lib is cool cos there are really arty farty people who go there. like the guy in the practice room who was SUPERR pro on the piano. he played a lot of fast songs at like ten times the speed or something. i think he was just showing off in front of his girlfriend but whatever la it still sounded pro. and there are also other people, listening to recordings, looking for scores to play, and for a while it feels quite natural to hear 'tchaikovsky' in normal conversation.

the highlight of my day there though was listening to the jack johnson cd. although the cd player was screwed up and made the background sounds much louder than the vocals, it still sounded really good. and after listening to jack johnson, you just dont want to listen to anything else.. must get his cd asap. =)
