} paraskavedekatriaphobia

courtesy to One Word A Day, im now enlightened on a phobia of Friday the 13th. wow its long. who invents all these words anyway? it must be a real mouthful. like what if someone is paraskavedekatriaphobic, and he decides to stay home all day, and everyone at work starts calling him up to ask why he's at home and he has to say 'im paraskavedekatriaphobic, i cant go out today' and everyone will go, '..im sorry, what?' and he has to repeat it again. paraskavedektariaphobic. paraskavedekatriaphobic. it means im scared of Friday the 13th, man. dont make me say it again. sheesh.

anyway, suhui sent me an excerpt of her ellen degeneres book cos theres one part which is somewhat reminiscent of this bob & jim strip... and theres another part in the book that i liked:

'Start thinking positively. You will notice a difference. Instead of "I think I'm a loser," try "I definitely am a loser." Stop being wishy-washy about things! How much more of a loser can you be if you don't even know you are one? Either you are a loser or you are not. Which is it, stupid?

haha. actually reading that made me contemplate whether i am a loser, and i start thinking in my head 'I think I am...' and then I double-take and realise, like, oops. anyway, although its not the most conventional words of wisdom, i guess its somewhat good to tell yourself that you're a loser. that way there's less pressure to appear smart, or cool, or anything, cos i mean, you're a loser already. haha. so anything embarrassing that you do is justified cos, hey, you're a loser! so..yeah. its probably less socially stressful to be a loser. so i will declare it now, i am definitely a loser. woohoo!

went for a pw outing today, although it sort of failed because...yeah. we just didnt end up doing what we set out to do haha. but its ok cos it was still nice. =) anyway, wy and catrin were talking about the class guys, about their blogs and about how they actually talk about very REFLECTIVE things. and after listening to them i cant help but feel, WOW THE GUYS ACTUALLY SO SENSITIVE.

yeah. i guess with blogs, it makes people open up more, emotionally and such. you see a side that you never usually see (and may never ever see) in person, like when you see them everyday. cos, from my own exp at least, people rarely talk about what they blog about, so it makes me feel as though i can blog about something and (try to) use bombastic words or whatever and the next day i can pretend i never did, i can go back to being shallow and bad in my vocab and whatever haha. it becomes like a secret between the blogger and the reader, cos its never talked about in person cos it feel so awkward to talk about bloggy things in person haha. for me at least.

but actually i do think that everyone has a sensitive side.. and i think thats mostly why i never stop hoping that even the most nonchalant-looking members in guit will eventually be able to convey their emotions in their playing. Showing emotions is like showing your weak side, i think, thats why many people dont dare to do it normally, but im hoping, im hoping, that everyone will get over that, and share their feeling with the audience, if only for that 8 minutes on stage.
