} give me your heart, make it real, or else forget about it

i missed the best part of dance floor tonight, which was the part where E SQUARED FINALLY GOT OUT. haha. im so mean. nvm. melvin and sharon are still in though. =( i dunno why but sharon keeps scaring me week after week! there is something strangely aggresive and EVIL about her that scares the heck out of me. =| she reminds me of those disney villains like .. CRUELLA DE VIL. yes.

soul fusion still rocked, though maybe not as good as last week. JDI is on a downhill journey to Sucky-ness. i have a feeling that they are just relying on their fan base to SOMEWHAT HANG ON until they get to hiphop week and THEN do a more impressive performance. =( platinum was good and creative as usual, but they didnt really stick to the genre... =/ that was quite disappointing..

i watched quite a lot of tv today since i was trying to finish my GP hw at the same time... so after dance floor i watched the news haha. i think the increase-ministers-pay thing is quite rubbishy. the public sector cant be compared to the private sector cos its a totally different thing! if the public sector becomes likened to a corporation then isnt it a wrong concept already? and haha, lee hsien loong donating his extra pay for the next 5 years... i mean WOW, damn big sacrifice! im sure he cant even survive with his current pay! =| (/end sarcasm)

politicians, they're all the same. in indon they try to hide corruption but it still takes place, here it takes place openly, except that its called Benchmarking.

oh well before i get sent to jail or smth i will just move on to another topic. =|

american idol! i watched a bit of it since i was still on my last paragraph for GP. =D the guy who performed after the 2 girls (haha i really dunno his name) was quite good i think... he has this voice that i like that sounds a bit like justin timberlake. hehe. =))) the song that he chose rocks too!

anyway, something that jennifer lopez said reminded me of what i've been thinking about since guit practice today.. about how a powerful performance can give you goosebumps. what if thats not a purely abstract emotional thing? what if, it can be proven by a physics concept! maybe when a singer or an instrument reaches a certain frequency, it actually RESONATES with the natural frequency of the human heart, such that we feel the effects of resonance and it makes us absolutely tremble. ...ok so i guess that sounds pretty crappy cos 1)resonance should only occur at one certain natural frequency, while a song really has many frequencies because of the number of notes in it and 2)our heart doesnt really have a natural frequency since its made of many many different substances and elements. =/

but i think the idea should be essentially the same! the emotion should come from our heartstrings, which is then transferred to our guitar strings, and then (ideally) (without too much loss of energy, haha! my physics rocks) (not) its transferred to the heartstrings of the audience. wouldnt it be a very very powerful performance, if at the climax of the song EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the performance hall starts feeling the same tugging and vibrations in their heart?? and it would seem as though the whole place, the entire hall, is RINGING with the same tune and the same emotions, and its at that stage that there can be a connection between the performer and the audience. i think that would be the epitome of a gold performance yea.

and i really dunno if we can do it, who could possibly know if we can achieve that? but i dont think fear of the unknown should limit us. i mean, i dont always know if im going to pass my physics, but i still.... oookay maybe that isnt a great example since i didnt really study for my common tests.. =| but i guess the point is, we should just go for it anyway? i think?

and like schezn said, its really about doing the composer and the music justice. the thing about playing something so many times, and listening to something so many times, is that it made me sensitive to little things in the music like changes in volume, tone and so on. and it makes me appreciate these little things more i guess, so with that i hope i can reproduce the music well, and do the music justice.

anyway the last 3 guit practices have been pretty good. im happy with my section. =) and the ensemble. =) i hope we can keep this up! i really really want us to achieve something special cos no matter how crazy it seems i really, really do believe that the gold w honours is still within our reach.
