when Handel was teaching the young courtiers to play music for King George of England, he suggested that they must learn the notes, then close their eyes as they played and let the music sing to them. and he went on to say: 'and it will also stop you from getting distracted when you play!'

i went for the cjc symphonic band concert today. to my surprise. sounds weird, i know. its becos i was expecting to go to Rockafella, their annual (rock) band competition.. cos when suhui asked me about it she didnt say what kind of concert it was and i just assumed that that was the one. so you can imagine my surprise when yvonne gave me the ticket today...... =|

turns out i missed rockafella, and sajc's Life concert too. quite disappointed.. but ah, well..

it wasnt too bad. i think their band is pretty good, but then again i've never been to a lot of band concerts, haha. =D i think their percussion is good though, and they had a really good saxophone soloist, who must be some kind of superstar cos he played solo in (i think) at least 3 of the pieces they played.

but their songs were so LONG. i think each song consisted of at least 2-3 movements or something. -_- and they were very INEFFICIENT when moving in/out of the stage! at one point there was a period of at least 5-10 mins when there was nothing going on except moving of instruments and chairs and the unprepared emcees (who, according to yvonne, will face death from brother paul) in desperation had to literally pull out one of the band members to tell lame jokes, just to 'waste time'.

haha it was quite entertaining la, but quite inappropriate since the concert seemed like a big thing and they had a guest of honour and everything.

anyway i didnt do a lot of things today, i think i really wasted a lot of time. i spent the whole morning just changing the strings for my guitar, mostly cos of the G string which was damn hard to restring. T_T (or maybe im just an idiot) (dont answer that). well at least its all re-strung (haha is there such a word) now, although it doesnt sound much better than i expected. but as in the words of MET, if you cant swim, dont blame the swimming costume!

anyway, for some strange reason restringing & cleaning my guit has a somewhat therapeutic effect haha. =) lately i have been feeling like i havent been doing anything right but somehow doing these little things just seemed to tell me that no matter what, this will always be right. this will always be right.

sorry. very random & vague. hehe =D

national geographic is showing a really creepy documentary about spirits and evil. x_x i think im going to sleep ...
