} ash wednesday

when my mum asked me why i came back late, i told her it was because i went for ash wednesday mass... you'd think that would be enough, come back late cos of MASS whoa, but then she started scolding me for not reminding her about it haha. being the fantastic Catholic as usual*, i only remembered this afternoon though, when astrid asked me if i was going for mass. oh well.

i liked the priest! he was ang moh and i really liked listening to him.. maybe it was the accent or maybe it was the way that he talked, i dunno, but i just felt like listening to his sermon (and this does not happen often at all).

anyway somewhere during the concluding rite he said something like, Lent is like a new beginning, and we will have a successful Easter etc something like that. and i just thought of CNY, and i thought about how im starting this new year with Lent. and it really does feel like a good way to start the year, by (ideally) repenting, giving, and sacrifice.

i thought about what i will abstain from this year... last year i abstained from chocolate, which was a real torture, but this year i really dunno. both valentines and cny is over, which basically means that the season of gluttony is over, so it may not mean much to abstain from food. (anyway, theres already fasting every friday..)

i think this year i will abstain from hate, anger, and swearing if/when i accidentally break my abstinence from hate and anger. and biting my fingernails.

yesterday's csi was excellent! even my brother watched, haha, although i think he was just too afraid to sleep in the room alone aha. but i missed the dance floor ep today! well hopefully R.E. (the cool masked duo) will get through.
